January 24, 2010 AM: “Do You Believe I Am Able?”

"As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, ‘Have mercy on us, Son of David!’ When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, ‘According to your faith will it be done to you’; and their sight was restored." (Matthew 9:27-30a) We are continually touched and amazed at the miracles of Jesus. In this miracle (as well as several others), Jesus actually predicated the blind men’s healing on their level of faith. There was no lack of power or willingness on the part of Jesus, but it is as if He wanted to say that some of the best that God has to offer only comes to those who have genuine faith.
